Overview

The Langtang Valley trek is one of the most accessible Himalayan treks in Nepal — reached by road from Kathmandu, with no flights required. It follows the Langtang Khola up through forest and yak pastures into a glacier-rimmed valley beneath Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), finishing at the village of Kyanjin Gompa with its cheese factory and the viewpoint climbs of Kyanjin Ri and Tserko Ri.

The valley is recovering strongly after the 2015 earthquake, and trekking here directly supports the Tamang communities rebuilding it. Short, scenic and culturally rich, it suits trekkers wanting big mountains on a tighter schedule.

Highlights

  • Glacier views beneath Langtang Lirung (7,227 m)
  • Viewpoint climbs of Kyanjin Ri and Tserko Ri (4,300–5,000 m)
  • Kyanjin Gompa and its famous yak-cheese factory
  • Tamang culture and post-earthquake community tourism
  • No flights — easy road access from Kathmandu
